Story of the CD

The songs on this CD were produced by Isaac Mbebe, a Sawa Spark (an aspiring Sawa Leader), who lives in Uganda. He finds musical talent among vulnerable children and youth in Uganda. He works with them to produce songs with educational messages. This gives them confidence and a more hopeful future. Six of the songs on this CD were sung by orphans who Isaac mentored.

Another six children can he heard singing in the song ‘A Sawa World’. They were were rescued by Max Migisha (a Sawa Spark) as new borns and abanonded babies from a hospital in Kampala.

40% of the sale of this CD goes directly to Isaac to help more youth with talent and 10% of the sale of this CD goes to Max to support his 18 adopted children.

Sawa means equal in Swahili. Sawa World aims to create a world where 1 billion people will lift themselves out of extreme poverty by having access to locally created and practical solutions that do not depend of international aid and charity.

We find extraordinary local visionaries who live in or have come from extreme poverty. We call them, Sawa Leaders. These change-makers have developed practical solutions to self-empower their communities out of extreme poverty. Sawa World trains and employs vulnerable youth (Sawa Youth Reporters) to document these locally created solutions on short videos. Together we work to share these solution-based videos in local media, schools and communities, allowing millions to replicate similar successes.
